The Boston Red Sox Pass the Torch of Disappointment
Yes, as a New England Patriots fan I am disappointed by last night’s lose to the New York Giants; however, disappointment is a way of life for a New England sports fan. And at this point, when it comes to New England sports “let-downs,” I believe the Boston Red Sox have passed the torch to the Patriots. Nothing is more disappointing than to cap the “perfect season” by losing the most important game of the season. But when the New York (and perhaps most of the country) gloating is over, when Mercury Morris has babbled incoherently one more time, and ESPN has ceased its excessive post game analysis, New England sports fans can say to themselves, “Well, at least we have the Red Sox, and maybe even the Celtics.”

I actually watched the entire Super Bowl for once and was pulling for New England just for the sake of seeing a team walk away with a perfect season. However, it looked like someone forget to tell the Patriots that they were playing a come-from-behind team with nothing to lose. The Giants were definitely playing with their hearts and their heads. Speaking or watching the entire Superbowl…based on my timing, the 4th quarter started at 9:09 PM eastern. The quarter ended at 10:00 PM eastern. Interesting, 15 minutes of actual playing time took slightly less than an hour. The commercials were absolutely unbearable. Next year I’ll have to use my DVR like I do during the normal season. Normally I record the game and start watching an hour into the game. After skipping through all of the commercials, I usually catch up to the end of the game in real time. Pretty pathetic if you think about it.
