Happy Thanksgiving to All!
As I drove into work on Wednesday morning, I listened intently to the news and the never ending “on location” status reports from our nation’s airports. While I didn’t really expect to hear anything earth shattering at 7 a.m., what did actually bring a smile to my face was the report of an absence of problems at the airports. Interviews with air travelers were much the same in that they arrived to the airport earlier to avoid long screening lines. WOW…advance planning in action!
I think what brought the smile to my face was not so much that people’s travel plans were going smooth thus far, but more so that these reporters seemed actually shocked and distraught that they could not find any gloom and doom to tell about. If that wasn’t enough, flying weather even looked good for a change. Gosh, I guess no news breaking reports from The Weather Channel today. Thank God!
On that note of thanksgiving to our Creator, I want to thank my friends and family for their support by continuing to read Brothers In Blog. What started out as just 2 brothers IM-ing throughout the week has now become a public venue for those chat sessions. Granted, we don’t have the reader base we were hoping for but we enjoy posting our thoughts and comments here for all to read. America is one of the few democracies that permit such an exchange as innocent as our topics may be. Regardless, we know that we can write about anything on our mind without fear of persecution or imprisonment. Many have died before us to provide and protect this freedom and our way of life, and many are still in harms way right now continuing the fight.
We don’t have a perfect nation and we never will because only God promises a perfect kingdom in Heaven. Until that day comes, we all need to share God’s love with those around us and follow Jesus’ example. Don’t let Thanksgiving and Christmas be the only days that you consider those in need, but instead let this be the start of a daily commitment to make a difference in those lives. If you can’t devote your time or your talents then support others that do with your prayers and finances. I have often commented to my friends that I have a difficult time understanding teenagers these days, which is why I have never engaged in our church’s youth ministries. However, if you tell me how much to write my check for I’ll do my part.
Wherever you are reading this post, take a moment to seriously consider all that you have right now and how blessed you are. Your car may be on its last cylinder, and the windows on your house may be drafty but at least you don’t have to walk several miles to work or sleep in the cold tonight. I thank God everyday for my beautiful wife and daughter; my parents that are both still with me; my brother and his family; and the balance of my relatives and friends. I am truly blessed by an awesome God!

I have everything I need. A great difference and sometimes wide gap between “what I need” and “what I want”.The one good thing about getting older is being content with less. However, I still struggle with some ever persistent “wants”.
Some people say they would believe in God - they just need to see a miracle. Every day when day follows night, winter follows fall, and I can get up out of bed it’s a miracle!
Thank you God for miracles and all your blessings to share with ohers.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ve got a lot to be thankfully for; however, at this time of year, I’m extremely thankful that I don’t have any travel plans.
Happy holidays everyone.
